Crunchran shares many similarities with the Mega Man 3 Wanaan Level Object.
In the Level Editor a Punch Block can be set to point up, down, left or right and can have speed settings to determine how fast the punch action occurs.  Punch Blocks have a fist within that, after a set period of time, will
emit from the block in whichever direction the block is pointing.  If a player is struck by the fist they will receive damage.

If a player jumps on top of a Punch Block it will change it's direction of attack in increments of 90 degrees with each time the player jumps upon the block's surface.

Punch Blocks can destroy Cracked Blocks and move Push Blocks if the Punch Block fist strikes them.

Whilst difficult to hit with many weapons due to it's low profile Crunchran is highly vulnerable to surface crawling weapons (Bubble Lead, Napalm Bomb) , screen clearing weapons (Rain Flush, Centaur Flash) and weapons that can strike at the feet of the player (Silver Tomahawk, Flame Blast).
If the player uses Magic Card on a Punch Block it has the ability to initiate the 90 degree turns of Punch Block without requiring the player to touch the block.
