It allows the user to fire a small spearhead that goes forward at either an upward or downward slant, alternating between the two angles each time it is fired. These spears carry on through defeated enemies and [[Dust Block]]s, also they can pierce the shields of [[Shield Attacker]]s, [[Kakinbatank]] and [[Knight Man]]. Yamato Spear can pierce the shielded state of [[Ben K]], but not it's projectile attack. Up to three Yamato Spears can be onscreen at a time.
When the attack key is pressed, all enemies on screen are damaged, while also stopping them and all objects for two seconds. The user is briefly held in place upon activation, and they also become invincible for its duration, being able to contact lethal hazards such as [[spikes]]. It does not affect any destructible objects except for [[Weapon Blocks]] marked with Centaur Flash and [[Plantforms]]. [[Wanaan]]s are vulnerable to Centaur Flash.
