Mega Man 9 (released as “Rockman 9: The Ambition’s Revival!!” in Japan) is the ninth numbered installment of the classic Mega Man series. It was released on September 22nd, 2008 for WiiWare, and was later ported to the PlayStation Network on September 25th and Xbox Live Arcade on October 1st the same year. Mega Man 9 took a more “back-to-basics" approach to the franchise by adopting aspects from Mega Man 2's design, such as 8-bit graphics and sounds similar to the NES games, as well as removing Mega Man’s ability to slide (introduced in Mega Man 3) and charge his Mega Buster (introduced in Mega Man 4). Proto Man is also playable as a DLC character, and he can reflect shots with his shield as well as slide and charge his Proto Buster, with downsides of taking double damage and double knockback from attacks.

In Mega Man Maker

  • Proto Man in Mega Man Maker looks and plays almost exactly like he does in Mega Man 9, although his "double damage" gimmick is optional, and he no longer takes increased knockback from attacks.
  • The Teleporter from Galaxy Man's stage is the only Level Object from Mega Man 9 currently used in Mega Man Maker.
