DLWN-021/DRWN-021/DWN-021 Top Man is one of the eight Robot Master bosses from Mega Man 3 that has been featured in Mega Man Maker since version 1.0.0 He was built by both Dr. Light and Dr. Wily. He was one of 8 Robot Masters assigned to travel to different mining planets to gather Energy Elements and other materials to finish building the peace-keeping robot Gamma. Top Man is a master of spinning, and he is armed with his signature technique, the Top Spin.

He later comes back during Mega Man II events where he and 3 other MM3 robot masters are guarding Wily's Base where Quint is stationed.

Behaviour

Top Man's attack pattern includes throwing three tops from his head that try to home in on to the player. To avoid this, the player has to slide under the tops. After throwing his tops, he spins and moves to the other side of the screen. It can be avoided by jumping over him. Afterward, his attack pattern resets. Moreover, while Top Man is in his spinning animations, he will deflect most forms of player-made attacks. This can be bypassed by the player using Top Man's weakness as set by the level.

Top Man's Pattern is one of the only bosses to not have any randomizers or variables. Springs can allow Top Man to become airborne while spinning, so beware of this, and be prepared to slide under him instead of jumping over if springs are around. Top Man will block most attacks while he is spinning, but Shine, Top Spin, and a few other weapons will still work.

Trivia

  • Top Man will go to the edge of the screen, stopping if he hits a wall. This can be found in multi-screen boss rooms.
  • Top Man's spinning intervals were altered from the intervals he had in Mega Man 3.
