|A Pointan in Mega Man 10.|
Pointan is a blue mouse pointer with eyes. It first appeared in Mega Man 10 as an enemy in Sheep Man's stage and Wily Stage 1. As of the 1.0.4 version ofMega Man Maker Pointan was added to the game as an optional mouse cursor. This small Pointan commonly referred to as Pointkun replaces the cursor in menus and in the Level Builder, although this can be turned off in the options menu. Pointkun can come in eleven different colors, blue, red, green, purple, pink, yellow, brown, dark blue, black, gray, and white. Pointan is considered the game mascot and also features prominently in the various trailers for Mega Man Maker, using its sprites from Mega Man 10.
As of Version 1.6.0 of Mega Man Maker, Pointan was also introduced as an enemy that could be placed and customized in the Level Builder. This enemy generates a set of four cyan window glasses that will go in different trajectories. To generate them, Pointan creates a selection rectangle in the same way the mouse cursor of a computer selects elements to work with. The set of window glasses can be of 1x4,2x2, or 4x1. After the window glasses go in their ways, the Pointan does another pattern of window glasses. Whichever of these 3 formation an instance of Pointan creates is chosen in the level builder via the right box that appears over an instance of Pointan.
In the Level Builder its color and windows can be customized. In Mega Man 10, it only came with a light blue, but Mega Man Maker added the option to have them in a large variety of colors, identical to those the Pointan variant that works as the game cursor has. The box on the left above a Pointan in the level creator is what controls the color the Pointan will have.
After a formation of panels is created and begin to move, Pointan will move around the screen and prepare to create a new set. Both Pointan and the panels ignore terrain collision, making it so they can move to and come from anywhere so long a Pointan is still on screen. The Panels Pointan creates also each have their own health, so if evasion isn't an option they can be destroyed if dealt enough damage.
- In the game's files, there are 14 frames of unused animation for Pointkun, possibly ranging from uses like idle animations or editing a text box. They were done without communication to the programmers.
