|Pointan in Mega Man Maker|
Pointan is a mouse pointer with eyes. It first appeared in Mega Man 10 as an enemy in Sheep Man's stage and Wily Stage 1 and was added as an enemy to Mega Man Maker in version 1.6.0 of Mega Man Maker.
A Pointan creates a selection rectangle (in the same way a computer mouse cursor selects elements to work with) that generates a set of four 1x1 tile cyan window glasses that travel either straight up, down, left or right. The set of window glasses can be 1x4, 2x2, or 4x1 tiles in size. After the window glasses are sent to travel, the Pointan creates another set of window glasses. Whichever of these 3 formation an instance of Pointan creates is chosen in the level builder via the right box that appears over an instance of Pointan.
In the Level Builder its color and windows can be customized. In Mega Man 10, it only came with a light blue, but Mega Man Maker added the option to have them in a large variety of colors, identical to those the Pointan variant that works as the game cursor has. The box on the left above a Pointan in the level creator is what controls the color the Pointan will have.
After a formation of panels is created and begin to move, Pointan will move around the screen and prepare to create a new set. Both Pointan and the panels ignore terrain collision, making it so they can move to and come from anywhere so long a Pointan is still on screen. The Panels Pointan creates also each have their own health, so if evasion isn't an option they can be destroyed if dealt enough damage.
A Pointan mouse cursor, commonly referred to as Pointkun, was added to Mega Man Maker in version 1.0.4 as the default and optional mouse cursor. Pointkun appears in place of the regular mouse cursor in menus and in the Level Builder and uses edited sprites of Pointan from Mega Man 10, being smaller in appearance. It can be set to one of 11 different colors: blue, red, green, purple, pink, yellow, brown, dark blue, black, gray, or white. Pointkun is considered the mascot of Mega Man Maker and is featured prominently in various trailers for the game.
- In the game's files, there are 14 unused frames of animation for Pointkun such as possible idle animations or animations when editing a text box. They were created without the knowledge of the programmers.
