Yoku Blocks, or as they are officially called Appearing Blocks, Bun Blocks, Buzzing Blocks, Tenmetsu (Blinking/Flashing) Blocks, or Vanish Blocks are disappearing and reappearing single-tile blocks from nearly every installment of the main Mega Man Classic series, which are featured in Mega Man Maker.

Yoku Blocks will appear and then disappear after a short period of time to create a temporary platform that the player and enemies can walk on or run into. The timer in which Yoku blocks spawn is split into 5 parts, once a block spawns it will stay for an additional segment of time then vanish instantly once the next occurs. Timing is important when it comes to navigating areas with Yoku Blocks, especially with those that have clusters of Yoku Blocks set to spawn at different times.

If a Yoku Block spawns while the player or enemy is standing in the same tile space or just one under it, they will be forced out of it usually upward but sometimes to the sides or downward if there is space. However, if a large group spawns while the Player is in the same space they will die when the group of blocks appear.

The original design of the Yoku Block in Mega Man Maker, before the additional skin variants where added in version 1.5.0.


From 1.5 onwards, the appearance of the Yoku Block can be changed. There are multiple skins through some of their appearances in the original Mega Man games. Those Yoku Blocks with an appearance distinct from the basic grey one have a shadow underneath, but this does not obstruct the creation or setting of elements underneath. Some can produce a higher pitched sound when appearing.

Reflecting Yoku Block is a special variant of the Yoku Block from Mega Man & Bass that acts like other ones, only that it reflects or otherwise rejects most types of projectiles shot by the player.It was added in Mega Man Maker in 1.5.0 and it is listed in the General category of the level objects.

The sound playing in their appearance comes from Mega Man 7, since the sound of their original version was also played in Mega Man & Bass. The Reflecting Yoku Block uses the same the same time patterns of the regular Yoku Block, that is, in the 1-5 timing and the disappearance when the Yoku Block timer is two numbers greater than the number of the block.

While most shield weapons are not bounced away by this block, some like the Jewel Satellite and Water Shield are, which makes them unusable over them.

  • Despite the entities being referred to as "Yoku Blocks" in Mega Man Maker, the name is not actually official, instead a popular fan given nickname. The term "Yoku Blocks" originated from Mega Man Unlimited, in where Yoku Man has been stated to be behind the creation of all of these blocks in the series.
  • Although Yoku Blocks appear in Many Mega Man games classic series or otherwise, the grey Yoku Blocks featured in Mega Man Maker share their appearance with none from any game in the franchise.
  • "Yoku" is a japanese word, meaning "frequently" or "often". This is likely in relation to the blocks appearing and disappearing on a regular basis.
  • Yoku Blocks appear in every main series classic game, with the only exception being Mega Man 8.
  • The Reflecting Yoku Block is the first level object from Mega Man & Bass introduced in Mega Man Maker. Similarly to weapon Block Dropper, it was implemented before its game of origin was implemented
  • Since the Reflecting Yoku Block comes from a game that seeks to port 32-bits into 16-bits and it has no official 8-bit sprites, WreckingPrograms designed its 8-bit sprite.


  • If Yoku Blocks spawn inside a Boss while they are up against the corner of a room, instead of being forced out of the blocks they may instead be shoved into the wall causing them to walk around inside it, teleport rapidly, or abruptly die in a random corner of the screen depending on the room's layout and tiles used.
