Below is a copy of the privacy page on the Mega Man Maker website mentioned in the game when a user tries to change their email address

This page addresses concerns about online privacy in Mega Man Maker. By playing the game, you agree to these conditions.

User Accounts

For its online functionality, Mega Man Maker stores the following information of your account:

  • Username
  • Profile icon
  • Levels
  • Password*
  • Email address*
  • IP address**

*Password and email address are salted and hashed for security. In other words, we can check whether the password/email address you enter is correct, but we cannot retrieve the password or email address itself from the database. Additionally, your email address will not be stored if you do not opt in for the "I forgot my password" feature.

**IP addresses are stored as an SHA-256 hash and bitmask. This is done to facilitate IP-based exclusion. Similarly to passwords and email addresses, one cannot retrieve your actual IP address from the database.

Multiplayer Editing

Mega Man Maker allows you to build levels with other people online. In this mode, the server collects and distributes data sent by the players. In public rooms, this data, such as level data and messages, is accessible to anyone. In passcode-protected rooms, this data is only accessible to people who know the passcode.

Your IP address is processed by the server when you join a room, but this data is discarded immediately after and not stored on the server. If you are IP banned from a room, an SHA hash and bitmask of your IP are temporarily stored. This data is deleted when the room is closed.
