Retro Redux was the sixth challenge event held for Mega Man Maker. It was hosted by V1ral and Aze and held from February 4, 2019[1] to March 25, 2019.[2]
The contest was first announced on February 4, 2019[1]. Level submissions were open from February 19, 2019[3] to February 22, 2019. The contest results were announced on March 25, 2019.[2] The winner was "Temple of the Sword" (ID: 298051) by Lenny with three out of six judge votes. Rain Flush was chosen by Lenny to be added to the game as a reward for being the winner of the Retro Redux challenge event: it was added in version 1.5.4.
Introduction
With the new year’s arrival, new resolutions and a review of what you’ve been through the past year usually come with it. Now with the old year replaced by the new, it’ll be the entrant’s duty to refresh and spice up the nostalgia-filled gems of Capcom’s beloved classics, in this brand new MMM Challenge Event.
Rules
- No Troll or Kaizo levels are to be submitted.
- Text-edits are NOT allowed for this challenge. (This includes multiple bosses)
- The submission cannot be a 1:1 copy of the original stage’s layout.
- The remake level must be originated from one of the numbered Mega Man series;
- This means levels from the Game Boy series, &Bass, DOS series, etc. are not allowed.
- Levels mustn’t excessively exceed the length of 50 screens
- The primary weapon must be the Buster of your chosen Player Character
Before you lose hope from the seemingly endless restrictions above, here’s some clarification to what is allowed
- As long as it’s possible to tell the original level with ease, all aesthetic assets available in the editor are allowed!
- Should an asset from the original stage not be available in MMM, use of a similar substitution is permitted.
- Fortress stages are also open for remake.
- As extension, multiple stages from the same fortresses are permitted.
- Weapon Capsules and Character Capsules are allowed.
- Intro/interlude stages are also allowed for remake
Reward
Winner gets one Robot Master weapon of their choice from the numbered NES games added to Mega Man Maker
