The Flame Pillar is a hazardous level gimmick that occasionally erupts into a 1x4 column of incendiary force at frequent intervals. The Flame Pillar is a level object that made its debut in Mega Man 1, as one of the primary obstacles of Fire Man's stage. It was added to Mega Man Maker in version 1.1.0 to compliment its horizontally-aligned predecessor, the Fire Beam.
Level Builder
In the editor, the Flame Pillar is a 1x1 object designated to the fifth layer, sharing space with Tiles and most Enemies. The amount of time that it takes for the Pillar to initially erupt can be manually adjusted.
Behavior
The Flame Pillar is a hazardous level gimmick that occasionally erupts into a 1x4 column of incendiary force at frequent intervals. When it triggers, the flame rises for roughly half a second, flares fiercely for roughly the same duration, and then promptly retreats back into the base of the pillar. Any sort of contact with the flame will damage the Player, similar to any other hazard or obstacle, and as a source of heat, it can melt ice or snow based level objects such as Chill Blocks and Ice Barriers. It can also detonate Blast Explosives and Oil Canisters, but not Explosive Crates, and heat up Hotplates.
Unlike Fire Beams, Flame Pillars will reset the moment they move off-screen, and thus cannot cycle when they are not visible. They also differ from their horizontal counterparts in a much more notable way - Flame Pillars can be frozen with ice-based elemental weapons, which will render them solid objects that can be bumped into and stood upon without risk of harm. They can also be frozen in time by weapons such as Time Stopper or slowed down significantly by Time Slow (even if Time Man himself activates the weapon).
