[[File:BuilderMusicMenu.png|thumb|right|250px|The Music tab in the [[Level Builder]] in version [[1.8.5.2]]]]
'''Music''' is the background audio (or lack thereof) featured in levels and in other screens. Most of the music is designed to be played in the levels, and as such it can be selected from the Music menu, represented by a quaver and two beamed quavers, in the [[Level Builder]]. Music for [[bosses]] can be set by selecting it in the settings, represented by a single quaver. The music that plays is that of the boss that first appears in a section. The music of a level can be changed mid-stage with the [[Music Changer]] or by setting a boss to change it upon defeat.

== Navigation ==
''[[Mega Man Maker]]'s'' music files are in the NSF format to diminish the weight of the files. Due to this format's properties, tracks from non-8-bit ''Mega Man'' games are remixed to fit the 8-bit style and limitations. Tracks from ''[[Mega Man 9]]'' and ''[[Mega Man 10]]'' were recreated in software like FamiTracker by only using the 2A03 channels. In the game, music is read through Chiptune Player, a GameMaker Studio expansion by Mick @ Gamephase that plays chiptune music in various formats such as NSF (Nintendo Entertainment System), GBS (Nintendo Game Boy), and [https://marketplace.gamemaker.io/assets/5319/chiptune-player|SPC (Super Nintendo) Chiptune Player by Mick @ GamePhase.] In earlier versions of ''Mega Man Maker'', the game came with a Winamp extension, but due to constantly crashing the game or resetting game volume when a new song was played it was abandoned in [[1.0.2]].
A list of the order templates should be put in on pages. These should be put on the bottom of pages where the templates are relevant.

''Note: Before all standard templates, the template <nowiki>{{clr}}</nowiki> should be used. This will ensure there is no overlapping with other page elements and makes the page look nicer.''

Click on "Create account" (or if you already have an account, the "Log in" button) in the top right corner. All you need is a username and a password. You need to enter the secret password (don’t worry, it’s the same every time) to create an account and enter it every time you wish to make a contribution. This is to ensure that spambots and bots don’t flood the wiki as has happened in the past.

Here are a few quick tips:
===''Mega Man World'' (Game Boy)===
*'''Once you make a contribution, this needs to be approved by a moderator before it shows up publicly.''' Edits are approved regularly, but if it’s been a few days and your edit has still not been approved, please ping a wiki mod in the Discord server (preferably the #mmm_wiki channel).
====''[[Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge]]''====
*'''Be professional when editing the wiki.''' Imagine you’re writing an encyclopedia encompassing all of ''[[Mega Man Maker]]'': that is the main goal of the wiki.
{| class="wikitable plainrowheaders sortable"
* '''Check for spelling mistakes in your writing and include appropriate punctuation marks.''' Also avoid contractions where possible (e.g. "it’s" should be written as "it is")
|+ style="text-align:left" |
* '''Write in clear, concise, proper English.''' Imagine a fifth grader reading your work: it should be easy to understand and make sense to them.

If you disagree on an edit, avoid edit wars: explain to the person what you disagree on and why in a civil manner. Don’t be a troll and make the lives harder for the mods and other contributors. You’re not helping.

To capture a screenshot in-game, use the F9 button. This will capture a screenshot at the window resolution your game is currently in (1x, 2x, 3x, 4x). To record a GIF, use the F7 button to start and stop recording a GIF. This is however not a preferred method to record GIFs for the wiki due to the compression involved; instead, use the tool ScreenToGif to create small GIFs. Anything longer than 10 seconds is likely too big for the wiki and would probably be better as a video.

For in-game images, simple high quality screenshots will suffice. Unless they are sprites found in the game that would be better at their original resolution (such as icons), images should be uploaded at 2x or 3x resolution. For enemies and level objects with variants, images with all the variants placed in a single image are recommended instead of one image for each variant. . This is to ensure that images don’t lose quality when viewed on the wiki due to upscaling. To remove transparent backgrounds, use the magic tool feature in an editing program like paint.net and upload the image as a PNG.

When naming files, use an appropriate name and descriptors for the image that would be easy to type and remember (e.g. an image of the enemy [[Bell Ringer]] being defeated by the [[player]] could be written with the name BellRingerDefeated.png or Bell_Ringer_Defeated.png). Try to spell out numbers or special characters so that the image is easier to type and search for.

|Inputting "30XX" during the splash screen opening credits replaces the title screen, main menu, and online menu music with this music. Prior to [[1.8.1]] adding this music by default to the music menu, this was the only way to unlock this music.
Templates: these are a way of informing the reader of certain things like a page that needs an image, requires more information, is from an upcoming content, or which game/asset/version a page relates to. These can be added by using <nowiki>{{TemplateName}}</nowiki>. Some templates are simple: just pop the template name in squiggly brackets and a message will show up (e.g. ImageNeeded, Upcoming Content). Others, like the Asset or User templates, require you to add additional parameters to the template.

{| and |} start and end the table. The first two lines tell what type of table you have and where on the page it’s positioned (left, right, center): feel free to ignore those. The text after ! scope=”col” | sets the name for each column. However many ! scope=”col” you have determines how many columns your table has. You can start a new row by adding |- on a new line. Make sure to fill in the information for each column even if left blank, otherwise your table may break. If you have multiple rows that have the same value for a single column, use |rowspan="#"| on a line for a column, with # being the number of rows that value repeats for (including the current row). For those # number of rows, you don’t need to write | for that column as rowspan will cover it. Also try to center icons wherever possible using <center> [[File:ImageName]] </center>
==Trivia==

{{Incomplete|Full list of themes updated in [[1.8.4]] and [[1.9.0]]}}
this is just a guide intended to get people into the wiki: feel free to suggest anything not mentioned here that should be added
*[[Fuse Man]]'s theme was originally used in the reveal video for [[Block Dropper]] in version [[1.2.0]] but was only added to the game in version [[1.6.0]].<ref name="reveal">[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4wzIHOEOPk Mega Man 11 in 8-bit! | Mega Man Maker 1.2] - WreckingPrograms on YouTube ([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWB2DmvOZEY reupload])</ref><ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lCqzpnBmPc <nowiki>"Fuse Man (Reveal Trailer) 8-bit - Mega Man 11 [0CC-Famitracker, 2A03] (Cover)"</nowiki>] - Sean Bialo on YouTube</ref>

*Despite ''[[Mega Man 9]]'' and ''[[Mega Man 10|10]]'' having 8-bit soundtracks, the music in the games needed to be remade for ''[[Mega Man Maker]]'' due to not being available in the .NSF file format required for the game.
=== Formatting tips ===
*Cloud Man's theme is a shortened version of the original track as it omits the portion before the music loops.

*Although the music files used by the game typically only contain a single track, some contain extra tracks.
<nowiki>== Title ==</nowiki> for adding a main subtitle
**The file for Editor Theme A originally contained several tracks. Most of them were simply earlier versions of other tracks or unfinished arrangements.

**The file for the ''30XX'' Main Theme contains a second track of complete silence.
<nowiki>=== Title ===</nowiki> for adding a smaller subtitle
**In [[1.8.0]], the file for ''Mega Man 2'' Wily 6 was updated with a second track. This second track is where the arrangement of MEGALOVANIA is stored. It can be accessed in-game by text editing a level and setting the [[boss]] music ID for a boss to "69": since version [[1.10.0]], inputting "SANS" during the splash screen opening credits replaces the title screen music with this music and unlocks it as a boss theme.

*[[1.8.0]] added two NSF files in the Music folder that are unused. According to [[TheButcherKevin]], a beta tester, these tracks were used for testing.
<nowiki>‘’Test’’</nowiki> for italics. Usually used for names of games
**TMP_BURNER_MAN.nsf was an early version of Burner Man's theme by [[GamerFromTheWeb]] that was scrapped due to the in-game NSF player not playing it properly.

**TMP_COLD_MAN.nsf is a duplicate of the used Cold Man track by [[ALUMOX]].
<nowiki>‘’’Test’’’</nowiki> for bolding. Usually used for emphasis or bolding the first instance of the name of the page.
*A number of music themes were either reworked entirely or updated to add missing portions in later versions.

**The following music themes were updated in [[1.8.4]]:
<nowiki>‘’’’’Test’’’’’</nowiki> for both bolding and italics. Usually used for bolding a game’s name in the first instance of the name of the page.
***Block Man

***Impact Man
<nowiki>{{clr}}</nowiki> ensures that any text above it is completely finished before starting the text after the <nowiki>{{clr}}</nowiki> on its own section. Usually used for text after a template or a table.
***Wily Stages (''[[Mega Man 11|MM11]]'')

**The following music themes were updated in [[1.9.0]]:
< nowiki > Text < /nowiki > (without spaces) to write characters that are ignored by wiki formatting e.g. <nowiki>“In ‘’Mega Man Maker’’< nowiki >’< /nowiki >s</nowiki> first release…” the use of nowiki ensures that “’s” does not interfere with other apostrophes elsewhere in a text.
*** Robot Master (''[[Mega Man & Bass]]'')

**The following music themes were updated in [[1.9.2]]:
<nowiki><syntaxhighlight lang="CSS" inline></nowiki> Test code <nowiki></syntaxhighlight></nowiki> for publishing any code that requires code formatting. Not commonly used but may pop up when talking about game files.
***''[[Mega Man 8]]'' Midboss

*When it was used for the 1.8.0 trailer, 40Nix's version of King Stage was initially intended solely for that. However, to prevent potential confusion, it was included ingame as a bonus track. ([[:File:KingStage40NixTrailerAddition.png|source image]])
<nowiki>{{Template}}</nowiki> used anytime you want to link to a template. For more in-depth templates like the Asset template, write in a similar way to tables:
*Storm Eagle Alt is based off Storm Eagle's level theme in ''Mega Man Maverick Hunter X''.

{{Asset
|name=Weapon capsule
|image=[[File:Enemies category.PNG|250px]]
|caption=Pink theme sucks
|description=No, it doesn't.

|game=''[[Mega Man 2]]''
|hp=N/A
|damage=A lot
|weakness=[[Metal Blade]]
|programmer=[[rollerC]]
|spriter=[[Justazag]]
|sfx=[[BigMaster]]
}}

<nowiki>{{ and }}</nowiki> start and end the template. Each now parameter is written as |parameter= where any text or image can be part after the equal to sign for the parameter.

https://wiki.megamanmaker.com/index.php/Template:Asset

<nowiki>{{User:UserName}}</nowiki> links to a user page. <nowiki>[[:Category:CategoryName]]</nowiki> links to a category. <nowiki>{{:Category:CategoryName}}</nowiki> pastes the text on that category page. Not really required, but handy to know just incase.

<nowiki>#REDIRECT [[PageName]]</nowiki> redirects to a specific page. Often useful to link to specific sections on a page, common misspellings or alternate spellings of assets.

Although the first Mega Man game is commonly known as Mega Man 1, it should be referred to as Mega Man in italics wherever possible unless mentioned otherwise in Mega Man Maker specifically.

The Music tab in the Level Builder in version 1.8.5.2

Music is the background audio (or lack thereof) featured in levels and in other screens. Most of the music is designed to be played in the levels, and as such it can be selected from the Music menu, represented by a quaver and two beamed quavers, in the Level Builder. Music for bosses can be set by selecting it in the settings, represented by a single quaver. The music that plays is that of the boss that first appears in a section. The music of a level can be changed mid-stage with the Music Changer or by setting a boss to change it upon defeat.

Mega Man Maker's music files are in the NSF format to diminish the weight of the files. Due to this format's properties, tracks from non-8-bit Mega Man games are remixed to fit the 8-bit style and limitations. Tracks from Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 were recreated in software like FamiTracker by only using the 2A03 channels. In the game, music is read through Chiptune Player, a GameMaker Studio expansion by Mick @ Gamephase that plays chiptune music in various formats such as NSF (Nintendo Entertainment System), GBS (Nintendo Game Boy), and (Super Nintendo) Chiptune Player by Mick @ GamePhase. In earlier versions of Mega Man Maker, the game came with a Winamp extension, but due to constantly crashing the game or resetting game volume when a new song was played it was abandoned in 1.0.2.

Trivia

This article is missing important information to be considered complete.
You can expand on it by adding content to this page.
Reason: Full list of themes updated in 1.8.4 and 1.9.0
  • Fuse Man's theme was originally used in the reveal video for Block Dropper in version 1.2.0 but was only added to the game in version 1.6.0.[1][2]
  • Despite Mega Man 9 and 10 having 8-bit soundtracks, the music in the games needed to be remade for Mega Man Maker due to not being available in the .NSF file format required for the game.
  • Cloud Man's theme is a shortened version of the original track as it omits the portion before the music loops.
  • Although the music files used by the game typically only contain a single track, some contain extra tracks.
    • The file for Editor Theme A originally contained several tracks. Most of them were simply earlier versions of other tracks or unfinished arrangements.
    • The file for the 30XX Main Theme contains a second track of complete silence.
    • In 1.8.0, the file for Mega Man 2 Wily 6 was updated with a second track. This second track is where the arrangement of MEGALOVANIA is stored. It can be accessed in-game by text editing a level and setting the boss music ID for a boss to "69": since version 1.10.0, inputting "SANS" during the splash screen opening credits replaces the title screen music with this music and unlocks it as a boss theme.
  • 1.8.0 added two NSF files in the Music folder that are unused. According to TheButcherKevin, a beta tester, these tracks were used for testing.
    • TMP_BURNER_MAN.nsf was an early version of Burner Man's theme by GamerFromTheWeb that was scrapped due to the in-game NSF player not playing it properly.
    • TMP_COLD_MAN.nsf is a duplicate of the used Cold Man track by ALUMOX.
  • A number of music themes were either reworked entirely or updated to add missing portions in later versions.
    • The following music themes were updated in 1.8.4:
      • Block Man
      • Impact Man
      • Wily Stages (MM11)
    • The following music themes were updated in 1.9.0:
    • The following music themes were updated in 1.9.2:
  • When it was used for the 1.8.0 trailer, 40Nix's version of King Stage was initially intended solely for that. However, to prevent potential confusion, it was included ingame as a bonus track. (source image)
  • Storm Eagle Alt is based off Storm Eagle's level theme in Mega Man Maverick Hunter X.
