Crunch Don is a skull shaped robot with a large hammer attached to its arms, and a platform somewhat resembling a Rotating Platform on its head. It debuted in the game Mega Man 11, and was added to Mega Man Maker in version 1.6.0.

While otherwise durable, the Pile Driver can destroy a Crunch Don. The explosion it causes instantly destroys it. If aborted before the player character is bounced back, it will still deal great damage to the enemy.

There are two variants of the enemy, one that remains stationary and another that chases the player by jumping. The player can set the enemy variant as well as the enemy's initial facing direction in the Level Builder.

Stationary Variant

Upon spawning, the enemy will be in a "passive state" in which it will stay still and not do anything. The enemy will remain in a "passive state" until the player comes within 2.7 tiles of the enemy in any direction, where it will then enter its "aggressive state".

In its "aggressive state", it will attempt to smash its hammer downwards 1 tile in front of itself horizontally. It will then go into a "recovery state".

In this "recovery state", the enemy it will stop moving and a platform will appear from its head in which the player can use as a platform to reach higher places. The recovery state ends when the platform returns to the enemy's head and it raises its hammer once again. At the end of the "recovery state", if the player is still within 2.7 tiles of the enemy in any direction, it will return to its "aggressive state", while if the player is 2.8 tiles for farther away from the enemy, it will return to its "passive state".

The stationary variant Crunch Don is incapable of auto-updating its facing direction, and will remain always facing in it initial set facing direction even if the player gets behind it.

Chasing Variant

Upon spawning, the enemy will be in a "chasing state" in which it will jump at regular intervals towards the player. The enemy will remain in the "chasing state" until the player comes within 2.7 tiles of the enemy in any direction, where it will then enter its "aggressive state".

In it's "aggressive state", it will attempt to smash its hammer downwards 1 tile in front of itself horizontally. It will then go into a "recovery state".

In this "recovery state", the enemy it will stop moving and a platform will appear from its head in which the player can use as a platform to reach higher places. The recovery state ends when the platform returns to the enemy's head and it raises its hammer once again. At the end of the "recovery state", if the player is still within 2.7 tiles of the enemy in any direction, it will return to it's "aggressive state", while if the player is 2.8 tiles for farther away from the enemy, it will return to its "chasing state".

The chasing variant Crunch Don is capable of auto-updating its facing direction between jumps during it's "chasing state", and will turn to face the direction of the player if they get behind it.

Enemy Interactions

Trivia

  • Surprisingly, Crunch Don's hammer swing can't break Cracked Blocks, despite destroying Ice Blocks in a single hit even if they aren't already cracked.
  • Placing an Ice Block beside a Crunch Don in the Level Builder in such a way where the enemy's shoulder overlaps the Ice Block, causes the Ice Block to shatter instantly when both are loaded during gameplay. It is currently unknown if this is an oversight or intentional.
  • The platform that emerges from Crunch Don's head will lose sync with the enemy's location if the enemy is moving vertically, but not if it is moving horizontally. It is currently unknown if this is a glitch or intentional.
