Big Eye is an enemy that appears in Mega Man Maker, originating from various stages in Mega Man 1 and reappearing on Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, Mega Man: The Wily Wars and Mega Man Powered Up. It is depicted as a large robot with a singular giant eye and spring legs. It is a heavily armored and powerful surveillance robot, notorious for its relatively large amount of health, high contact damage and large size.

Big Eye debuted in version 1.0.0 of Mega Man Maker.

In Mega Man Maker

Behavior

When spawned, Big Eye will switch between two fixed jump heights, and will continuously jump in the direction of the player, in an attempt to collide with them. If Big Eye's eye is open and is standing up straight, it will do a small jump, while if its eye is closed and it is crouched down, it will do a high jump. In Mega Man 1, Big Eye did not have a visual tell for when it would do a high jump or low jump, but the eye closing it had in ins Mega Man Powered Up was repurposed as a way to telegraph its high jump.

Big Eye's AI has three different jumping patterns:

  • Jump Pattern A - High Jump, pick another "Jump Pattern" at random and do it.
  • Jump Pattern B - Low Jump, High Jump, pick another "Jump Pattern" at random and do it.
  • Jump Pattern C - Low Jump, Low Jump, High Jump, pick another "Jump Pattern" at random and do it.

Big Eye will automatically turn to face the player character if they manage to get behind it.

It is weak in all its body every time as in Mega Man 1. Its immunity while on land from Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge and its immunity while it has its eye closed from Mega Man Powered Up were not carried over to Mega Man Maker.

Level Builder

Big Eyes are one of the larger enemies overall, requiring a 2x3 space to be placed in the level.

Big Eye can be set to one of three color schemes: Red and White, Blue and White, or Red and Orange.

  • The Red and White color scheme resembles their appearances in Cut Man, Elec Man, and Ice Man's stages.
  • The Blue and White color scheme resembles a singular appearance in Guts Man's stage.
  • The Red and Orange color scheme resembles the two Big Eyes in Wily Fortress Stage 1, an infamous gauntlet due to their awkward placement in quick succession.
