Level mugshots are icons that appear next to a level's name in Mega Man Maker depending on the boss(es) present in the level. As of version 1.10.1.3, there are 67 unique level mugshots for different ways to end a level including multiple bosses, Party Balls, Energy Elements, or a single boss.
Trivia
- Level mugshots for bosses that exist in Mega Man Maker are the same as their profile icons. However, prior to version 1.9.0, there were two exceptions:
- Yamato Man, whose level mugshot uses a lighter color palette
- Dark Man 4, whose profile icon was added in 1.8.1 with revisions made
- Prior to version 1.3.4, Mega Man's level mugshot was utilized when a level contained a Party Ball or an Energy Element.
- The only level mugshots that do not have profile icon equivalents are those for a level containing only Party Balls/Energy Elements to end a level and/or multiple bosses.
- The ID for each boss is incremented by one compared to a boss' level mugshot ID.
- There are multiple IDs with the same level mugshot:
- IDs 0, 14, 15 each have the Party Ball/Energy Element icon.
- IDs 33, 35, 65, and 74 have an icon a transparent sprite with the text "Do Not Delete!".
- The IDs 33 and 35 were likely added to facilitate the new vertical and horizontal Boss Doors for the multiple bosses feature added in 1.5.0.
- IDs 54, 55, 56, and 67 have the Boobeam Trap icon which likely corresponds to the four Boobeam Trap-related assets: the horizontal and vertical Boobeam Trap enemies themselves (as the Boobeam Trap Controller handles the level mugshots) and the Boobeam Trap Controller both added in version 1.8.0, and the Boobeam Trap Rail added in version 1.8.4.
- IDs 57, 58, and 59 have the Kamegoro Maker level mugshot which likely corresponds to the Kamegoro Maker boss itself, the horizontal and vertical Kamegoro Maker Vortex Generators.
- Like the other bosses, Gemini Man has a mugshot still present in the game. It has a frame number of 8 due to Party Ball/Energy Element's mugshot being frame number 0, while Gemini Man himself has a boss ID of 9.
- As of version 1.10.1.5, the profile icon and level mugshot for Gamerizer differ slightly. The profile icon version has Gamerizer's eyebrows raised slightly and a few rows of transparent pixels in its bottom right corner, while the level mugshot version has an additional patch of green in its bottom left corner.
- The differences are likely due to the profile icon version being based off a GIF of Gamerizer raising its eyebrows which is used as an emoji in the Discord server.
- Concepts of the Gamerizer level mugshot and profile icon initially included Spotaro but was removed from the final version as it did not fit in the space for the icon.[1]
