Water Fall Spawner is a Level Object added to Mega Man Maker in version 1.8.0 and hails from the Game Boy game Mega Man V.

Level Builder

Water Fall Spawner when placed in the Editor has multiple customization options: direction (up or down), various color settings, velocity, timing and since version 1.8.4, whether the waterfall is intermittently spawning or constantly present.

Behavior

After the initial burst of an intermittently spawning waterfall, a warning of its location is given either by a small drip directly below where the waterfall will spawn again (ceilings), or tiny water spouts directly above its spawn location (floors).

When a waterfall is on screen, collision is disabled for tiles in the path of the waterfall allowing the player to move through tiles that normally are solid. However, the collision for tiles in the path of a waterfall still applies to bosses, enemies, and level objects. If the player leaves a screen by the waterfall into an area where there is no screen available then the player will instantly be eliminated the same as if they had fell into a pit. Jumping into waterfall traveling downwards hinders jump height, while jumping into a waterfall traveling upwards increases jump height which can be used to reach higher places a normal jump would not be able to reach.

Interactions

As a water-based gimmick, the waterfalls created by Water Fall Spawner can dilute Mega Man 11's Chemical Solution Object (making it safe for the player to enter), extinguish ignited Oil or temporarily disable Napalm Fire. Waterfalls can also allow players to pass unharmed through instant death Spikes so long as the Spikes are covered by the waterfall. Weapon Blocks and Weapon Barriers will behave as normal tiles when covered by waterfalls and will not allow players through.

The Player Weapon Gravity Hold can be used to reverse the travel path of Water Fall Spawners. When Gravity Hold is used Water Falls traveling downwards will go up, and upwards traveling Water Falls will go downwards.

Fixed bugs

  • Prior to version 1.9.0, Water Fall Spawners placed near the edge of a screen were also affected by Gravity Hold even when in a different section.
  • In versions 1.9.0, 1.9.1 and 1.9.1.1, the color option for the Water Fall Spawner was not available.
