DWN-083 Blast Man, is one of the eight Robot Master bosses from Mega Man 11. He was added to Mega Man Maker in version 1.6.0.

Blast Man is a Robot Master that was designed for explosive special effects, but was captured by Dr. Wily after his completion of the Double Gear and reprogrammed for evil. He now causes mass destruction in the theme park Flower Land using his signature weapon, the Chain Blast. When combined with his use of the Power Gear which can exponentially increase the strength of his explosions, Blast Man becomes a devastatingly explosive powerhouse to be reckoned with.

Behavior

Blast Man throws explosives that can be destroyed with fire weapons. Most often, he will throw five small bombs either on land or midair that explode upon contact with the floor. Starting from 21 HP, Blast Man can use the Chain Blast to generate four floating bombs that slowly follow the player if they approach them and can connect for a larger explosion. Occasionally, he will throw a single small bomb.

If Blast Man has 12 or less HP, he enables his Power Gear and throws larger bombs. He can throw three large bombs similarly to how he throws the groups of small bombs, while also he can throw a single one. The Power Gear effect wears off after a few seconds. While he is activating the Power Gear he cannot be damaged, but can be damaged during the rest of its effect.

After setting or throwing the bombs, he will walk and jump.

Trivia

  • On December 10, 2019, a day after Blast Man was announced for 1.6, a Pastebin post was released by WreckingPrograms addressing two points of criticism regarding Blast Man's addition: the addition of "yet another explosion-themed Robot Master" and Blast Man's animations appearing too smooth compared to the 8-bit Mega Man style.
  • Being from Mega Man 11, Blast Man utilizes part of the Double Gear system invented by Wily when low on health, strengthening his attacks using the Power Gear. He, alongside Bounce Man are the first bosses able to use a part of the Double Gear in Mega Man Maker.
  • Blast Man's eye from his profile icon was used as a teaser for version 1.6.0 on Mega Man 11's first anniversary.[1][2] The background of the teaser is in all black and looks slightly different from the final version in-game with dark orange in place of the blue area where the eye meets Blast Man's head gear.

Glitches

  • Prior to version 1.6.2, when the weapon Flash Stopper was not set as the weakness of Blast Man, the weapon would still freeze all of Blast Man's projectiles in place. This was confirmed to be a glitch by Luigi and was fixed in the version.
  • When Blast Man is bouncing on Springs, if he jumps while in mid-air and collides with a ceiling, it is very likely for him to clip and zip through ceilings and walls.
  • Blast Man will sometimes slip a bit while running towards the player during the homing Chain Blast attack, causing him to jump and throw multiple small Chain Blasts. This also can cause him to continue throwing singular Chain Blasts at the player even after the homing Chain Blasts are gone.
