Crash Lifts are pipe-mounted platforms that debuted in Crash Man's stage in Mega Man 2. When placed in the level builder, they appear as bare white pipes; after placement, any singular pipe can be adjusted to spawn a platform and set the direction that the platform will move. The pipes will automatically connect with any adjacent tile or Crash Lift pipe. Since 1.5.0, the pipes can be set to be of another appearance taken from the Wily stages, but the use will be the same, even in tracks with different visual pipes.
In-game, the pipes are not solid and can be walked through. The platforms however are topsolids, and thus can be jumped through from below or in some cases grab the player from below and stood on. it should be known that the Crash Lift platforms are unable to crush the player character in most scenarios, instead opting to push said player down through the lift itself.
Most gravity effected enemy types can fall onto or otherwise be placed on top of a Crash Lift, provided there is enough space, and will similarly be dumped upon being "false-crushed" or picked up. Additionally, since Crash Lifts don't reset their positions when a room is entered or exited, if an enemy isn't placed to account for this then it is likely to fall down to the ground or pit below.
Level Objects like Push Block and Press are capable of interacting with Crash Lift platforms.
When a Big Fish flies upwards from off-screen, it will get stuck when descending if it lands on a Crash Lift platform. This was done intentionally and was never actually a glitch.
Trivia
- Sometimes people use the pipes that make up the Crash Lift's track, as visual decorations in their levels.
