|Leaf Shield's concept art in Mega Man 2|
When activated, the user will surround themselves with a barrier of leaf-like projectiles that can block projectiles and damage enemies. If the user moves in a vertical or horizontal direction while the shield is active, it will fire in that direction, though jumping or sliding will not fire the shield.
When implemented into Mega Man Maker, the Leaf Shield was upgraded to have enough weapon energy to have 10 uses rather than its original 9. It can also now do rapid damage and it can block bullets. The weapon's Energy will not be consumed so long as the user does not move while Leaf Shield is active. Additionally, if the user activates Leaf Shield while they are running, it will follow them rather than being thrown forward. It will however be thrown if the user then stops and moves again.
If the player uses Leaf Shield and then pauses or presses the weapon switch button, the player gets to use the Leaf Shield for free.
- Leaf Shield originally had a very loud high-pitched sound effect that would play while active in Mega Man 2. In Mega Man Maker, this sound effect fades out after a few seconds.
