|Hornet Chaser's concept art in Mega Man 9|
When used, the player spawns a robotic small hornet that can either attack enemies or grab most pickups by attempting to go after them. The closest target will be prioritized by each hornet. If the hornet does not destroy the enemy, it will despawn. If it does, it will chase another enemy or an item or will fly away. When grabbing a pickup, it will try to fly on the player character's direction and will leave after the latter receives the pickup. There can only be 3 hornets at the same time and the weapon has 28 uses before refilling it.
The Hornet Chaser can grab health or weapon energy pickups and even lifes, but will not pick Tanks or Capsules. If grabbing an item, the hornet will bring the item to the player character's position before leaving the screen.
If there are no enemies or weapons, the hornets will fly diagonally upwards. The hornets do not chase Weapon Blocks by themselves.
