The Caricarry is a mining robot designed to store various stones and minerals within its minecart-shaped hull. It originated in Mega Man 9 as an enemy appearing in the stages of Jewel Man and Hornet Man.
Caricarry officially debuted in version 1.5.0 of Mega Man Maker, although it had technically already been implemented as of the initial release. Before 1.5.0, the Caricarry was inaccessible through normal means, and thus, an unused asset.
Level Builder
The Caricarry is designated to the 5th layer, along with tiles and most level objects. Its initial facing direction can be manually adjusted and set as either left or right.
Behavior
Initially after spawning, the Caricarry will enter its default state of rolling back and forth. It will first roll one tile forward in the previously designated facing direction, before backwards another four. It will then repeat this process, establishing a horizontal path of around 6 tiles. It will continue to travel back and forth on this path ad infinitum. If the Caricarry bumps into a wall or any form of solid terrain, then the path will be adjusted and moved away from the wall in the opposite direction, to make room for the Caricarry's patrol. The Caricarry will also freely roll off of slopes without any issue, and is still capable of turning around and navigating on its patrol path in midair. Whenever a Caricarry takes damage, it will briefly stop moving to rock back and forth, flinging a small stone out of its minecart in the direction of the player as a projectile counterattack. The stone will skip across the ground three times, in progressively lower arcs, before breaking. If the stone comes into contact with the player, it will damage them. The stone will also be instantly destroyed if it comes into contact with a wall in the direction it is flung. If the Caricarry is struck again in its shaking state, it will not fling another stone, meaning that it can be damaged multiple times without launching an additional projectile. Once the Caricarry is destroyed, it will fling four equally powerful (although considerably more fragile) stones into the air, which will crash down onto the ground and shatter.
Trivia
- The Caricarry's final counterattack will not be triggered if it is destroyed or removed through non-traditional means, such as using special weapons like Wind Storm, Tornado Blow, Gravity Hold, Concrete Shot, Danger Wrap, or Black Hole Bomb. Black Hole Bomb is a rather effective weapon in particular, as it can absorb the Caricarry's rock projectiles.
- Concrete Shot is capable of destroying a Caricarry in a single hit.
- Caricarry's interesting development history is shared with its contemporary Petit Devil, as both enemies were implemented as of Mega Man Maker version 1.0.0.
- WreckingPrograms originally programmed the Caricarry before 1.0.0's release, but Luigi was responsible for cleaning up the Caricarry's code before its official debut.
- Interestingly, the Caricarry's stone projectiles are more powerful than the enemy's own contact damage.
