The Petit Devil is a floating enemy that first appeared in Mega Man 9. It is a member of the Devil series of robots, characterized by their malleable, gelatinous bodies, as well as their tendency to split apart into smaller chunks. The Petit Devil is, seemingly, a mass-produced variant of the Yellow Devil from Mega Man 1, albeit with a sacrifice of both size and power. It appeared in Galaxy Man's stage, as well as the Wily Castle.
Petit Devil officially debuted in version 1.5.0 of Mega Man Maker, although it had technically already been implemented as of the initial release. Before 1.5.0, the Petit Devil was inaccessible through normal means, and thus, an unused asset.
Level Builder
The Petit Devil is designated to the 5th layer, along with tiles and most level objects. Its initial facing direction can be manually modified and set to any of the four cardinal directions, which will affect the Petit Devil's movement patterns (although its sprite will always turn to face the player). The Petit Devil's color can also be selected as either Green or Yellow, which affects its behavior - or namely, how it splits apart.
Behavior
After spawning, the Petit Devil will float one tile in its designated direction, phasing through any solid objects in the process, before reversing and floating two tiles the other way. After establishing its path, it will continue to repeat its movements, floating back and forth across its set boundaries. The Petit Devil will turn to stare at the player, but otherwise, the player is unable to manipulate its movement in any shape or form. It is also unable to directly attack the player without directly slamming into them.
However, after the Petit Devil receives two damage and is "destroyed", it will split into smaller versions of itself, which spring out in the player's general direction, scattering in the process. These segments (or "smaller bodies") of the Petit Devil are very fragile, and can be destroyed with just a single shot of the Mega Buster, but due to their miniscule size, they may prove challenging to attack. The Petit Devil's smaller bodies are incapable of splitting apart further and are permanently destroyed after death.
The Petit Devil's color will also slightly affect its behavior and the way that it splits apart.
- The green Petit Devil will split into three smaller Devils - two which travel downwards, and one upwards.
- The yellow Petit Devil will split into four smaller Devils, which all travel diagonally upwards in an arcing pattern.

Trivia
- The Petit Devil will not split apart if it is destroyed by weapons that remove or eliminate enemies through non-traditional means, such as Wind Storm, Tornado Blow, Gravity Hold, Concrete Shot, Danger Wrap, or Black Hole Bomb. Additionally - Slash Claw, a weapon that, ironically, splits enemies apart upon death, does not trigger the Petit Devil to split into its smaller bodies.
- Explosive weapons such as Hyper Bomb, Crash Bomber, Drill Bomb, Dive Missile, or Flash Bomb are highly effective against the Petit Devil, as their explosions are capable of destroying the Petit Devil's smaller bodies nearly instantaneously after splitting off.
- Petit Devil's interesting development history is shared with its contemporary Caricarry, as both enemies were implemented as of Mega Man Maker version 1.0.0 but remained unused.
- Prior to 1.5.0, Petit Devil's yellow and green variants were separate assets in the Level Builder. Petit Devil's green asset was edited to contain both the green and yellow enemy variants in 1.5.0 and the Petit Devil yellow asset was no longer needed.
- WreckingPrograms originally programmed the Petit Devil before 1.0.0's release, but Luigi was responsible for cleaning up the Petit Devil's code before its official debut.
