|Water Wave's concept art in Mega Man 5.|
Water Wave is Wave Man's signature weapon from Mega Man 5. The weapon fires high pressurized water into the ground that then burst out and travels forward across the ground and down slopes until it hits a wall or otherwise gets stopped.
Originally, Mega Man would need to be standing on the ground to fire the weapon. However, in Mega Man Maker the weapon has been modified to instead have the user fire out a small ball-like projectile that will then turn into the wave of water once it makes contact with solid ground. As a workaround of Water Wave projectiles clipping through walls, if one is shot directly at a wall, it will spawn two tiles behind the player character instead. Additionally, the move is also modified to act completely different if the user fires it while in water. In water, the weapon will instead fire out large bursts of water in front of the user that have a large spread similar to a shotgun. In both forms, Water Wave can also briefly disable Flame Pillars. Shooting the small ball over water will make it disappear.
The weapon is also buffed in damage, and its weapon energy consumption was lowered from two per shot to one per shot. This weapon can cool down ignited oil if that portion of oil is not tied to a Fire Beam. Until 184.108.40.206, the Water Wave could not douse underwater ignited oil, but that was changed in 1.5.0.
The Water Wave outside of water can stop Fire Beams for a brief time, including the small flame before it gets long.
- The ability to destroy Flame Pillars was originally a glitch, however after being discovered it was kept in as an actual feature of the weapon.
- It can destroy the entire Gabyoall family in 1 hit.
