Acid Barrier is Acid Man's special weapon, originating from Mega Man 11. It is featured in Mega Man Maker as of version 1.9.0.
Behavior
When the shoot key is pressed, Acid Barrier creates a spherical shield around the player, allowing them to withstand a few hits before the shield disappears. A shield once created can remain for up to 11 seconds, flashing momentarily before disappearing. This shield will remain around the player even after screen transitions, though the time during screen transitions also contribute to the shield's duration. If the player's shield takes damage from projectiles, the duration of the shield is reduced: the duration of the shield is greatly reduced when the player's shield takes damage from water projectiles. If the player takes contact damage with the shield up, the shield will immediately disappear.
While the shield is present, pressing the shoot key makes the player fire small blobs of acid that travel in an arc and ignore tile collision but are deflected by enemy shields or level objects such as Weapon Blocks that deflect the player's projectiles. Shooting these blobs of acid costs no weapon energy.
A player's shield or shots while using Acid Barrier will increase the acidity level of Burst Water but not Chemical Solution.
Trivia
- Similar to Burst Water, the player's Acid Barrier uses a shader that gives any assets inside the barrier a dark green tinge.
