The Kaona Geeno is an robot designed to disguise itself as an artificial snowman, and an enemy first introduced in Mega Man 10. It is one of the primary hostile threats in Chill Man's stage, as well as the second stage of the Wily Castle. It generates its own heads through the formation of snow, which it wears as part of its disguise - as well as its means of attack.
Kaona Geeno debuted in version 1.6.0 of Mega Man Maker while a pumpkin skin was added in version 1.10.3.
Level Builder
The Kaona Geeno is designated to the 5th layer, along with tiles and most level objects. Its facing direction can be manually adjusted between either left or right, which has little effect on its behavior beyond its initial positioning. It has no other customizable attributes.
Behavior
Waiting in place, the Kaona Geeno will initially spawn successfully camouflaged as a snowman, showing no signs of activity or movement. That is, until the player enters a range of around six tiles away from the Kaona Geeno's horizontal position, which will prompt it to turn towards the player, grab its head, and throw it as a projectile. The head will arc through the air until it crashes into solid terrain, which will destroy the head and break it apart into four pellet projectiles, which each travel in the four cardinal directions in the shape of a plus, passing through any solid terrain. After throwing its head, the Kaona Geeno will quickly form another, and return to its idle state until it is prompted to attack again.
The Kaona Geeno's heads can be freely shot at and destroyed with most weapons, but any damage dealt to one of the heads will not harm the Kaona Geeno itself, as the robot consists exclusively of the snowman's body. Destroying the head in this way will prevent it from splitting apart into smaller projectiles. If the body (and thus, the Kaona Geeno) is destroyed, then the head will fall to the ground and shatter as if it had been thrown.
If the Kaona Geeno generates its head inside of a tile or solid object, or if the head comes into contact with terrain as it is about to be thrown, it will instantly shatter and split apart into projectiles.
Trivia
- The Kaona Geeno's name is seemingly derived from "Kao nageru no" in Japanese, which can be roughly translated to "It throws its face". Rather subtle.
