The Brain Break is a robotic scholar and enemy from Mega Man 6, debuting in Knight Man's stage, as well as in the Wily stages. Its helmet resembles a graduation cap, and protects its fragile cerebral core from attack.

Brain Break debuted in version 1.1.0 of Mega Man Maker.

Level Builder

Brain Break takes up a 2x2 space in the editor, is designated to Layer 5 (Main elements), and has no customizable special attributes.

Behavior

The Brain Break walks back and forth across tiles (and one-tile gaps) before reaching an edge, which will prompt it to reverse direction and walk the other way. It will continue this pattern for as long as its helmet is intact. However, once the Brain Break is struck by a weapon and has taken damage, its helmet shall shatter and send the Brain Break into a wild frenzy. It will dash towards the player's position, jumping 3 tiles into the air upon contact with a ledge or a wall, in an attempt to overcome the terrain and reach the player in order to slam into them. If the Brain Break is shot and/or damaged again, it will be destroyed. In this frenzied state, the Brain Break will also self-destruct after a set amount of time. Thanks to these unique attributes, the Brain Break technically only has 2 health, but it can only take 1 damage at a time.

Trivia

  • The Brain Break will seemingly die instantly to damage sources unrelated to player action, such as Hotplates, without entering into its frenzy state in the process.
  • When damaged, the Brain Break's glasses are flung off in the opposite direction as the player. These glasses are a unique object, not classified as a projectile, and do not interact with any tiles or shield weapons.
  • Strangely, Needle Cannon projectiles do not latch onto a Brain Break in its helmeted state, but do so without issue in its frenzied state.
