Wire is a utility from Mega Man 4, obtained by traversing a spike pit after the second mini-boss in Dive Man's stage. It is featured in Mega Man Maker since version 1.10.0.
Behavior
If the player presses the up button with Wire equipped, the player will look upwards. When the shoot key is pressed when the player is on ground, the player launches a wire that goes upwards, then hooks itself onto any ceiling it comes across or on certain level objects such as Shupponpon Rails or Thunder Claw Poles. Once it does so, the player will be taken upwards to the ceiling as the wire retracts. After the wire has been successfully retracted, the player can adjust its length, taking up 1 weapon energy for every 3 tiles moved up or down.
When attached to the ceiling, the player can also fire uncharged bullets akin to those of the Mega Buster that do not use up weapon energy. The player will jump a small distance upwards midair when detaching from the wire.
Trivia
- A few changes were made to the Wire in Mega Man Maker compared to Mega Man 4:
- In Mega Man 4, launching the Wire would take up 2 points of weapon energy. This was reduced to 1 point in Mega Man Maker.
- In Mega Man 4, the player could not move up or down when attached to the Wire but can do so in Mega Man Maker.
- Shooting the buster with Wire equipped took 1 point of weapon energy in Mega Man 4 but does not use up any weapon energy in Mega Man Maker.
- In Mega Man 4, the player must hold the up button then press the shoot button to fire a wire; in Mega Man Maker, however, the up button does not need to be held to fire a wire.
- As 1.10.0 focused on adding assets as per the choice of members of the development team, Wire was chosen by Meka to be added for the update.[1]
