A Hoohoo in Mega Man 9 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Hoohoo is an owl robot that appears in Concrete Man's stage and the first Wily Castle stage in Mega Man 9. The Hoohoo and Hoohoo Spawner were added to Mega Man Maker in version 1.5.0.
Level Builder
The Hoohoo and Hoohoo Spawner are both 2x2 assets designated to the 6th layer (close front) of the Level Builder. As such, they can both be placed over tiles as well as some level objects. A Hoohoo or Hoohoo Spawner can be set to face left or right, determining the direction in which a Hoohoo will fly. Additionally, the rock that a Hoohoo drops can come in one of two colors: brown (made of earth) or light blue (made of ice).
Behavior
A Hoohoo flies horizontally in a set direction holding a rock beneath it. While flying, the Hoohoo bobs slightly up and down in the shape of a sinusoidal wave, ignoring any terrain collision. Once a Hoohoo reaches two tiles or less horizontally from the player's position, it will drop its rock straight downwards and continue flying in its set direction.
If the rock touches terrain, it will break and leave debris that harms the player character upon contact. Both the rock and the debris can be destroyed by the player's weapons, and can leave pickups. If the rock is released in terrain, it will break into debris immediately.
The alternate ice projectile comes from the Endless Attack mode of Mega Man 9, where the Hoohoo drop ice balls instead. However, it does not have any ice properties and is identical to the rock made of earth.
A Hoohoo Spawner will spawn Hoohoos indefinitely if the player is in the spawner's area. There can only be one Hoohoo spawned at a time by each spawner.
