Wire is a utility from Mega Man 4, obtained by traversing a spike pit after the second mini-boss in Dive Man's stage. It is featured in Mega Man Maker since version 1.10.0.
Behavior
If the player presses the up button with Wire equipped, the player will look upwards. If the shoot key is pressed when the player is on ground, the player launches a wire that goes upwards, then hooks itself onto any ceiling it comes across or on certain level objects such as Jumpthrough Platforms, Shupponpon Rails or Thunder Claw Poles. Once it does so, the player will be taken upwards to the ceiling as the wire retracts. After the wire has been successfully retracted, the player can adjust its length, taking up 1 weapon energy for every 3 tiles moved up or down.
When attached to the ceiling, the player can also fire uncharged bullets akin to those of the Mega Buster that do not use up weapon energy. Additionally, the Wire claw can damage enemies and bosses when fired or when latched onto a ceiling.
The player will jump a small distance upwards midair when detaching from the wire. If the player is damaged while the claw is fired or attached to a ceiling, the wire will immediately retract back to the player.
Trivia
- As 1.10.0 focused on adding assets as per the choice of members of the development team, Wire was chosen by Meka to be added for the update.[1]
