Hot Dog (or Friender depending on localization) is a blue dog robot that was originally meant to protect forests. It has a fire extinguisher on their tail, but Dr. Wily modified it to be able to breathe fire. It originates from Mega Man 2 and appears in Wood Man's stage. It also appears in Wily Stage 2 of Wily Tower in Mega Man: The Wily Wars, and in Wood Man's stage from Mega Man II.

Hot Dog, also known as Friender, is a miniboss originated from Wood Man's stage in Mega Man 2.
Behavior
When Hot Dog is spawned, it will teleport in, just like Tama, giving the player a moment to freeze time it with the Flash Stopper to rush buy it before the enemy fully spawns into the level. Otherwise, its behaviour is to shoot a stream of fireballs in a pattern until it is defeated or despawned. Those fireballs go in an parabolic direction. This can complicate reflecting them with Shine or Proto Shield, since they would be sent in a direction that the player may have not wanted to.

After teleporting into the scene, Hot Dog spits a chain of fireballs in a parabolic way. Unlike in Mega Man 2, the number of fireballs in a chain will allways be the same, which makes it more akin to how the enemy works in Mega Man II.
When the Hot Dog shoots his fireballs, it does not shoot an erratic number as it did in Mega Man 2. Instead, the firewalls are always six, similarly to the Hot Dog always shooting the same number of fireballs in Mega Man II.

When the Hot Dog shoots his fireballs, it does not shoot an erratic number as it did in Mega Man 2. Instead, the firewalls are always six, similarly to the Hot Dog always shooting the same number of fireballs in Mega Man II.

Hot Dog will not turn around to face the player if the player goes behind it. Hot Dog's biggest weakness is Leaf Shield, which defeats it in one hit.

In Mega Man Maker, Hot Dog is considered a Midboss, which means that with its presence on screen all Boss Doors are blocked and it is necessary to destroy Hot Dog before it can be opened.

Hot Dog

Trivia

 • Hot Dog is the fourth-largest enemy in Mega Man Maker as of version 1.8.5.2, being 4x4 blocks, or 16 tiles. The largest enemy in the current version of Mega Man Maker is the Lantern Fish.
 • Hot Dog's fireballs sprites are larger than their actual hitbox, meaning the player character can be slightly inside the edge of the fireball's sprite without taking damage. This is not a glitch, and is accurate to the source game, Mega Man 2.

Glitches

 • Enemies with unique spawn-in animations, such as Hot Dog and Tama, may not react correctly to Crash Lift platforms when spawned falling onto one, if the Crash Lift platform is not moving upwards when landed on.
