Weapon Blocks and Weapon Barriers are level objects based on the recurring blocks in the Mega Man series. Both blocks were included in Mega Man Maker since the debut in the 1.0.0 release.
They are perfectly solid objects that act rather similarity to tiles, but with the unique property of breaking apart upon contact with a particular special weapon or utility.
Level Builder
Weapon Blocks are large 2x2 objects, while Weapon Barriers come in both 1x2 (Vertical) and 2x1 (Horizontal) varieties. Both objects are assigned to the fifth layer of the editor, and when selected, they can be individually assigned a specific weapon from the level's current weapon set, which will alter the block/barrier's color and behavior.
Behavior
Weapon Blocks and Weapon Barriers can be destroyed by whatever weapon or utility (except Super Arrow, Item-1, Item-2, or Item-3) is assigned to them in the Editor. If no weapon or utility is assigned to a Block/Barrier, then the Block/Barrier in question will be colored a dark grey, which indicates that it cannot be destroyed. These Blocks/Barriers behave in a similar manner to shielded enemies or Reflecting Yoku Blocks, and can reflect player projectiles - although, shield piercing weapons, such as Laser Trident, can shoot through them without issue while leaving the block intact, and certain physics-based weapons, such as Hyper Bomb, can successfully collide with them without being automatically deflected. This projectile-reflecting behavior also applies to colored blocks when they are struck by the vast majority of weapons that they were not explicitly assigned, as only their designated weakness is capable of destroying them. Proto Man can destroy a grey Weapon Block if the Nothing weapon slot is equipped and an enemy projectile is reflected from his shield into a grey (Nothing setting) Weapon Block.
Weapons that pass through/ignore Nothing Weapon Blocks/Barriers
Trivia
- Horizontal (2x1) Weapon Barriers were added to Mega Man Maker in version 1.6.0, and were not present during the initial release.
- Weapon Blocks/Barriers assigned to Command Selection are capable of being destroyed by any weapon chosen from Command Selection's randomly generated selection of attacks. However, as these weapons are considered to be extensions of Command Selection, they cannot break Blocks/Barriers assigned to their original counterparts (for example, if Fire Storm is selected through Command Selection, it can break Blocks/Barriers assigned to Command Selection, but not those assigned to Fire Storm).
- Their design in Mega Man Maker resembles the appearence in Mega Man Powered Up.
